From Vineyard to Bottle: How We Make Wine at Tenuta Coromano
Every bottle of wine begins long before it reaches the cellar.
At Tenuta Coromano, wine is the result of a year's work in the vineyard, careful decisions during harvest and a commitment to preserving the character of our grapes and our territory.
Located in the hills of Bertinoro, in the heart of Romagna, our small family winery follows every step of production, from vineyard to bottle.
Great Wine Starts in the Vineyard
For us, winemaking begins among the vines.
Throughout the year, we care for our vineyards and closely monitor the grapes as they ripen. Every season is different, and weather conditions play an important role in shaping the character of each vintage.
Our goal is simple: harvest healthy, ripe grapes that can fully express the identity of our land.
Hand-Harvested Grapes
Harvest is one of the most important moments of the year.
All our grapes are harvested by hand, allowing us to carefully select the fruit and preserve its quality.
Once picked, the grapes are placed in bins and immediately transported to our winery. We believe that reducing the time between harvest and processing is essential for preserving freshness, aromas and the integrity of the fruit.
Processing the Grapes the Same Day
One of the principles that guides our work is that grapes should be processed as soon as possible after harvest.
For our white wines, the grapes are gently pressed shortly after arriving at the cellar using a soft press. This allows us to separate the juice from the skins while preserving delicate aromas, freshness and varietal character.
Working quickly and carefully helps us maintain the natural qualities of the grapes and create wines that remain true to their origin.
Twenty Days on the Skins
Our red wines follow a different path.
After crushing, the grapes ferment and macerate on their skins for approximately twenty days.
This extended contact between juice and skins allows colour, structure, aromas and complexity to develop naturally.
Throughout fermentation, every stage is carefully monitored to achieve balance while respecting the unique characteristics of each vintage.
Small Volumes, Close Attention
Being a small winery allows us to remain directly involved in every stage of production.
Rather than focusing on large volumes, we prefer to work on a human scale, where every decision can be made with care and attention.
This approach allows us to follow the evolution of each wine closely and make adjustments when necessary.
Concrete Tanks, Barriques and Experimentation
Our cellar combines traditional methods with a constant desire to learn and improve.
Part of our production matures in small concrete tanks, which help preserve freshness and the purity of the fruit.
We also work with two barriques and one tonneau, allowing us to explore different ageing techniques and understand how each wine develops over time.
Every wine is different, and we enjoy studying the best way to express its character.
Guided by Experience
Throughout the winemaking process, we work alongside our oenologist, Lisa Masini, who follows every stage from harvest to bottling.
Her expertise helps us make thoughtful decisions in the vineyard and cellar while maintaining the style and identity of our wines.
Winemaking is a continuous learning process, and having professional guidance allows us to combine tradition with innovation.
Curiosity Is Part of Our Work
While we remain deeply connected to the winemaking traditions of Romagna, we also enjoy experimenting.
Every year offers new opportunities to learn, test ideas and explore different approaches.
Sometimes this means studying new techniques. Sometimes it means developing new wines.
We believe curiosity is one of the reasons small wineries can continue to grow while remaining true to their roots.
From Our Family to Your Table
At Tenuta Coromano, wine is more than a product.
It is the result of hand-harvested grapes, same-day processing, careful winemaking and a deep connection to our land.
By producing wine in limited quantities and selling directly from our winery, we are able to share not only our wines but also the story behind them.
Every bottle reflects the vineyards, the people and the passion that make Tenuta Coromano what it is today.
